A foundation built on quantitative expertise

While Lacima was officially founded in 2001, its origins can be traced back to an earlier collaboration between co-founders Chris Strickland and Les Clewlow, who would later be recognised in the Energy Risk Hall of Fame for their contribution to the industry.

In 2000, they published Energy Derivatives Pricing and Risk Management, a landmark book that became the industry’s best-selling reference for the mathematical models underpinning modern energy risk management.

The success of that collaboration, and the book itself, revealed something important: energy markets were becoming increasingly sophisticated, and organisations needed practical ways to apply advanced analytics and risk management techniques to real-world business challenges.

That insight became the foundation upon which Lacima was established in July 2001.

25 years of innovation and growth

Since the launch of its first software product in 2002, Lacima has grown into an internationally recognised provider of energy and commodity analytics, risk management software and advisory services, serving clients across the globe.

Over the past 25 years, the industries we support have transformed dramatically. Throughout that change, one thing has remained constant: our commitment to delivering trusted analytics that help clients understand risk, make informed decisions and navigate increasingly complex markets.

From our early software solutions through to the current flagship offerings, Lacima Analytics and Lacima Trader, our focus has always been on providing the robust quantitative solutions that clients depend upon to manage some of the world’s most dynamic markets.

Along the way, we’ve expanded our operations to the United Kingdom and United States, become part of the European Energy Exchange (EEX) Group, and earned consistent industry recognition, including fourteen consecutive years of #1 Energy Risk Software rankings.

While we’re proud of these achievements, our greatest measure of success has always been the success of our clients.

For 25 years, we’ve worked alongside energy producers, utilities, retailers, traders, market operators and commodity market participants to solve complex commercial and risk management challenges. Over that time, we’ve supported more than 100 customers wherever they are in the world: Europe, the Middle East, the Americas, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, building trusted partnerships founded on expertise, reliability and long-term collaboration.
